I blame the company for the wait time — offering 10 appointment times in one hour is irresponsible and poor personnel management— I felt terrible for the one receptionist, the one nurse, and the one practitioner. The people were lovely but the process needs improvement.

Urgent care in Aubrey, TX

Aubrey is a fast-growing Denton County town with deep equestrian roots and major new master-planned communities along US-380. Most clinic capacity is in Denton and Frisco. Compare local options or browse the wider urgent care in Dallas network.

What services do urgent care clinics in Aubrey offer?

Urgent care clinics serving Aubrey, TX treat sprains, fractures, and orthopedic concerns common to equestrian sports, respiratory illness, lacerations, sports physicals, and pediatric needs. Texas Health Presbyterian Denton and Medical City Frisco anchor the closest hospital-affiliated networks; CareNow operates urgent care clinics along US-380 in Aubrey, Cross Roads, and Prosper.2

Most Aubrey-area urgent care clinics are open seven days a week, with extended weekday and weekend hours, on-site digital X-ray, basic in-house labs (rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, urinalysis), and standard suturing capability. Cash-pay rates and copays should be confirmed at booking; many clinics post transparent self-pay pricing online. Booking through Solv lets you compare clinic distance, real-time wait, and reviews before you commit, which often saves time during peak respiratory season (October–February) and back-to-school physical season (July–August).

Does urgent care in Aubrey accept Texas STAR Medicaid?

Yes. Urgent care clinics serving Aubrey accept Texas STAR Medicaid managed-care plans, administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Most Aubrey residents are commercially insured, but verify in-network status with your MCO if STAR-enrolled. KFF data shows Denton County tracks below the statewide Medicaid coverage rate.3

In addition to STAR, Texas runs CHIP (children's coverage), STAR+PLUS (Medicaid + Medicare for adults with disabilities), STAR Kids (Medicaid for children with disabilities), and STAR Health (foster care). Coverage rules differ across programs — patients should bring their MCO ID card, a state-issued photo ID, and any referral paperwork to a Aubrey urgent care visit. If you're unsure whether a clinic accepts your specific Medicaid plan, call the clinic before booking or use Solv's in-network filter to narrow the list.

How does Aubrey urgent care relate to Dallas?

Aubrey sits about 40 miles north of downtown Dallas along US-380, between Denton and the rapidly expanding Prosper-Celina exurb corridor. With an estimated 8,900 residents per U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts,4 the town is one of the fastest-growing in North Texas, with new master-planned communities adding thousands of households each year. For specialty or after-hours care, most residents route to Denton, Frisco, or the broader urgent care in Dallas network.

For most non-life-threatening problems, an urgent care visit is faster and considerably less expensive than the ER. KFF research consistently shows the average emergency department visit costs several times what a comparable urgent care visit costs, even before insurance.3 Patients in Aubrey who can't get into a local urgent care clinic often have shorter waits at clinics in adjacent suburbs, and most major hospital networks — including Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton — share medical records across affiliated locations, so visiting a sister clinic generally doesn't fragment your care.

Common reasons Aubrey residents book urgent care include sore throats, ear infections, urinary tract infections, sprains and minor fractures, lacerations, low-grade fevers, mild allergic reactions, rashes, eye irritation, and routine school or sports physicals. For chest pain, stroke symptoms (sudden weakness, slurred speech, vision loss), severe abdominal pain, head injury with confusion or loss of consciousness, major bleeding, severe burns, or any breathing difficulty, the ER — including Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton — is the right choice. Telehealth is another option for clear-cut viral illnesses or prescription refills, and many Aubrey-area urgent care brands offer same-day virtual visits in addition to in-person care.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • Are there urgent care clinics in Aubrey?

Yes — Aubrey, TX has urgent care options serving routine illness and injury, school and sports physicals, lab tests, and on-site X-ray for common needs. Solv lists local clinics with same-day availability, transparent pricing, and online booking so you can hold a time before walking in.
  • Does urgent care in Aubrey accept Texas STAR Medicaid?

Yes. Most urgent care clinics in Aubrey, TX accept Texas STAR Medicaid managed-care plans, though enrollment varies by clinic and managed-care organization (MCO). Texas STAR is administered by Texas HHS. Call ahead with your STAR plan ID to confirm the clinic is in-network for your specific MCO before your visit.

Most Aubrey urgent care clinics accept commercial PPO and HMO plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and Humana. • Should I go to urgent care or the ER in Aubrey?

Choose urgent care for non-life-threatening problems — fevers, sprains, cuts that need stitches, UTIs, flu and respiratory illness, minor allergic reactions, and most pediatric concerns. Visit the ER, including Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton, for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe abdominal pain, head injury with loss of consciousness, uncontrolled bleeding, severe burns, or any condition you believe is life-threatening. When in doubt, call 911.
  • Are urgent care clinics in Aubrey adding capacity to keep up with growth?

Yes. Urgent care brands have opened multiple new clinics along US-380 in Aubrey, Cross Roads, and Prosper over the past several years to keep pace with population growth. Solv lists currently operating clinics with real-time wait times so you can pick the closest opening rather than guessing which clinic is open.
