We were in and out within minutes. Thank you to the staff who were just wonderful dealing with my toddler who does not do well with pain and had a meltdown crying. They got me in right at 8:20 because I called a little bit before then and they were like yes come now and we’re very very fast efficient and had all the facts information and ran all the tests now waiting on results, but the staff was all very efficient and caring, and the nurse practitioner or doctor was super informative about what was going on and her opinion on all of it as well as including all the medical facts and things I need to watch out for and make sure I had everything I needed to go home with until we get the results. Got rx for infection the next morning; doctor sent it in right away. Very thankful for them staying and taking me in as the last patient and helping me figure out what’s going on.

Urgent care in Brookshire, TX

Brookshire is a Waller County town along I-10 west of Katy, transitioning rapidly from rural farmland to suburban residential. Local urgent care capacity is limited; most residents drive east to Katy. Compare options or extend to the broader urgent care in Houston network.

What services do urgent care clinics in Brookshire offer?

Urgent care clinics serving Brookshire, TX treat respiratory illness, lacerations, agricultural and warehouse occupational injuries, sports physicals, and routine pediatric care. Memorial Hermann Katy and HCA Houston Healthcare Katy anchor the closest hospital networks 8–12 miles east, with NextCare and several independent walk-in clinics along I-10 and the Grand Parkway.2

Most Brookshire-area urgent care clinics are open seven days a week, with extended weekday and weekend hours, on-site digital X-ray, basic in-house labs (rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, urinalysis), and standard suturing capability. Cash-pay rates and copays should be confirmed at booking; many clinics post transparent self-pay pricing online. Booking through Solv lets you compare clinic distance, real-time wait, and reviews before you commit, which often saves time during peak respiratory season (October–February) and back-to-school physical season (July–August).

Does urgent care in Brookshire accept Texas STAR Medicaid?

Yes. Urgent care clinics serving Brookshire accept Texas STAR Medicaid managed-care plans, administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Verify clinic-specific MCO acceptance before booking. KFF data shows Waller County tracks slightly above the Texas average for Medicaid enrollment, particularly among children.3

In addition to STAR, Texas runs CHIP (children's coverage), STAR+PLUS (Medicaid + Medicare for adults with disabilities), STAR Kids (Medicaid for children with disabilities), and STAR Health (foster care). Coverage rules differ across programs — patients should bring their MCO ID card, a state-issued photo ID, and any referral paperwork to a Brookshire urgent care visit. If you're unsure whether a clinic accepts your specific Medicaid plan, call the clinic before booking or use Solv's in-network filter to narrow the list.

How does Brookshire urgent care relate to Houston?

Brookshire sits about 35 miles west of downtown Houston along I-10, anchoring eastern Waller County. With an estimated 7,400 residents per U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts,4 the town has historically centered on rice farming, services, and warehousing along I-10, but new residential growth in Katy and Igloo Manufacturing-area employers are pushing the workforce toward suburban patterns. Most urgent care needs route east to Katy; for specialty care, residents continue to urgent care in Houston.

For most non-life-threatening problems, an urgent care visit is faster and considerably less expensive than the ER. KFF research consistently shows the average emergency department visit costs several times what a comparable urgent care visit costs, even before insurance.3 Patients in Brookshire who can't get into a local urgent care clinic often have shorter waits at clinics in adjacent suburbs, and most major hospital networks — including Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital — share medical records across affiliated locations, so visiting a sister clinic generally doesn't fragment your care.

Common reasons Brookshire residents book urgent care include sore throats, ear infections, urinary tract infections, sprains and minor fractures, lacerations, low-grade fevers, mild allergic reactions, rashes, eye irritation, and routine school or sports physicals. For chest pain, stroke symptoms (sudden weakness, slurred speech, vision loss), severe abdominal pain, head injury with confusion or loss of consciousness, major bleeding, severe burns, or any breathing difficulty, the ER — including Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital — is the right choice. Telehealth is another option for clear-cut viral illnesses or prescription refills, and many Brookshire-area urgent care brands offer same-day virtual visits in addition to in-person care.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • Are there urgent care clinics in Brookshire?

Yes — Brookshire, TX has urgent care options serving routine illness and injury, school and sports physicals, lab tests, and on-site X-ray for common needs. Solv lists local clinics with same-day availability, transparent pricing, and online booking so you can hold a time before walking in.
  • Does urgent care in Brookshire accept Texas STAR Medicaid?

Yes. Most urgent care clinics in Brookshire, TX accept Texas STAR Medicaid managed-care plans, though enrollment varies by clinic and managed-care organization (MCO). Texas STAR is administered by Texas HHS. Call ahead with your STAR plan ID to confirm the clinic is in-network for your specific MCO before your visit.
  • What insurance do urgent care centers in Brookshire accept?

Most Brookshire urgent care clinics accept commercial PPO and HMO plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and Humana. Many also accept Tricare, Medicare Advantage, and Texas STAR Medicaid. Self-pay rates are typically published online or available by phone — confirm coverage and copay before your visit.
  • Should I go to urgent care or the ER in Brookshire?

Choose urgent care for non-life-threatening problems — fevers, sprains, cuts that need stitches, UTIs, flu and respiratory illness, minor allergic reactions, and most pediatric concerns. Visit the ER, including Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital, for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe abdominal pain, head injury with loss of consciousness, uncontrolled bleeding, severe burns, or any condition you believe is life-threatening. When in doubt, call 911.
  • Are there urgent care clinics in Brookshire itself?

Brookshire has limited dedicated urgent care capacity inside the town; most residents drive 8–12 miles east on I-10 to Katy for the closest walk-in clinics and hospital ERs. Solv shows real-time wait times so you can compare Brookshire-area options against clinics in Katy and Cypress before driving.
