I felt like the sickness was dismissed as a virus very quickly, didn’t even bother to check for strep. The staff is very friendly, but I just wish they would take our concerns a little more serious.

Never encountered more uninterested healthcare professionals in my life. The nurse taking vitals was leaned over the BP monitor cart while the cuff popped off twice, exhaling heavily like they had far better places to be and things to do.

Urgent Care in Lewisville, TX

Lewisville is a city of approximately 135,000 residents in Denton County, situated along the northern edge of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex between DFW International Airport and Lake Lewisville. The city's dense population, diverse workforce, and access to major corridors like I-35E make walk-in urgent care a practical first option for most non-life-threatening health needs. Residents can reach urgent care in Dallas and surrounding Denton County communities, but Lewisville's own network of clinics—anchored by CareNow on W. Main Street, NextCare on Surf Street, and Concentra near the business corridor—provides fast access without the commute. For serious emergencies, Medical City Lewisville serves as the area's primary hospital.

When should you use urgent care instead of the ER in Lewisville?

Urgent care clinics in Lewisville are the right choice when a condition needs prompt medical attention but does not involve a potentially life-threatening emergency. Walk-in clinics treat sprains, minor fractures, lacerations, sinus infections, strep throat, UTIs, flu symptoms, and mild asthma flares. They also handle occupational health services such as pre-employment physicals, drug screenings, and injury follow-ups for the many logistics and tech employers operating in and around the city. Reserve the emergency room—and call 911—for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe difficulty breathing, major trauma, or any condition where delay could cause lasting harm. Urgent care typically offers shorter wait times, lower out-of-pocket costs, and online check-in to hold your place in line.

What do urgent care clinics in Lewisville, TX treat?

Walk-in clinics throughout Lewisville handle a wide range of everyday medical needs. Common conditions include respiratory infections, ear infections, eye irritation, skin rashes, and allergic reactions. Sports-related injuries—including sprains, strains, and joint pain—are frequently treated at Lewisville urgent care locations, making them a convenient resource for the city's active youth athletic programs. Clinics also offer sports physicals in Lewisville for school and recreational leagues, as well as DOT physicals in Lewisville for commercial drivers who operate along the busy I-35E corridor. X-ray, lab work, and STI testing are available at most locations.

Seasonal and environmental health in Lewisville

North Texas allergies are among the most intense in the country. According to the Texas Department of State Health Services,1 the region experiences prolonged cedar, oak, and grass pollen seasons that can trigger severe allergic rhinitis from late fall through early summer. Lewisville's proximity to Lake Lewisville and the Trinity River corridor also contributes to elevated mold spore counts following wet periods. Summer heat is a consistent concern: Denton County regularly records heat index values above 100°F, and urgent care clinics treat heat exhaustion and dehydration throughout June, July, and August. Winter respiratory viruses, including influenza and RSV, peak between November and February, driving significant walk-in volume at area clinics during those months.

Who lives in Lewisville, TX?

According to the U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts,2 Lewisville had a population of approximately 113,000 at the 2020 Census, a figure that has grown substantially since—current estimates place the city above 135,000 residents. The city is notably diverse: roughly 28% of residents identify as Hispanic or Latino, 15% as Asian, and nearly 23% were born outside the United States. This diversity makes insurance navigation—including Medicaid managed care—especially important for a meaningful share of the community.

Does urgent care in Lewisville accept STAR Medicaid and other insurance?

Most urgent care clinics in Lewisville accept major commercial insurance plans, including those offered through large employers in the DFW area. Texas Medicaid is administered through the STAR managed care program, as described by Texas Health and Human Services.3 STAR provides comprehensive coverage for low-income children, pregnant women, and qualifying adults through a managed care organization. Patients covered under STAR should confirm their specific plan's network prior to visiting, as coverage and copays vary by managed care organization. Uninsured patients can ask about self-pay rates at the front desk; most Lewisville clinics offer competitive cash-pay pricing for visits and common lab services. According to KFF State Health Facts,4 approximately 18% of Texas adults under 65 are uninsured, underscoring the importance of transparent pricing options at walk-in clinics.
