The nurse practitioner that took care of me was top notch in professionalism. She gave me literature on the problem I came in for which was so helpful. I would highly recommend this location. Got a text that I was ready to be seen so I came to the clinic but then waited an hour to be seen. They refused to do most accurate testing (vaginal swab for gonorrhea and chlamydia testing in women… they said urine was the only option which is not standard of care for women and has many false negatives). No clinic has ever refused to do GC/CM swab for testing. Just so odd to me. They seemed agitated that I even asked. I’m an ER PA with 10 years experience who tests others for STIs all the time, so why would they not practice evidence-based medicine at AFC?

Great discreet service, scheduled my visit and paid for for the test online not in Showed up at lab, checked in and was seen within minutes. Blood and urine were collected, test results came back quickly within 2 days because I did my test on a Friday. Quick, easy and cheap. Didn't have to wait for a visit to my PCP, and then get referral to lab.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

According to the CDC, anyone who has been exposed to blood or body fluids of an infected person should get tested for hepatitis. This includes individuals who have shared needles or other drug-injection equipment, had unprotected sex with an infected person, or have been born to a hepatitis-infected mother. Additionally, healthcare and public safety workers who have been exposed to blood on the job, and people with certain medical conditions, such as chronic liver disease and HIV, should also get tested.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial for both individual health and public safety. Hepatitis, if left untreated, can lead to severe liver damage, including cirrhosis and liver cancer. It can also be unknowingly transmitted to others. According to the CDC, early detection and treatment can prevent these complications and stop the spread of the disease.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Escondido

While specific data for Escondido is not readily available, San Diego County, which includes Escondido, has seen a steady increase in hepatitis cases over the past few years, according to the CDC. This trend is in line with national data, which shows a rise in hepatitis cases across the United States.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Escondido

Risk factors for hepatitis in Escondido are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include drug use, unprotected sex, exposure to infected blood or body fluids, and certain medical conditions. It's important to note that individuals in these risk groups should get tested regularly.

Other STDs in Escondido

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also prevalent in Escondido. Just like with hepatitis, regular testing for these STDs is crucial for those in risk groups.
