Urgent Care for Children, Highway 280 - 500 Cahaba Park Cir, Birmingham
Wait time was really frustrating. There was only 1 doctor working- and this was the weekend at an urgent care. I had booked a slot online, but still had to wait almost 2 hours. All we needed was an xray... also, in the rooms, you can hear what's going on in the rooms next to you, so something needs to be done to ensure better privacy.

Excellent experience at this location. All off the staff were very friendly and masked. My doctor's visit was detailed and was very thoughtful. I left with a clear understanding of my treatment and next steps to take. I'm very grateful for their kindness. The online check in is a great feature and very easy to use. I hope not to be back soon, but very happy they're close by when needed.

I scheduled an online visit for my teenage daughter with complete ease. From the moment we walked into the waiting room and then to the treatment room and again at our exit we were greeted by the kindest and professional staff. They were wonderful to us and very concerned about caring for my daughter and getting her what she needed. Our provider was especially kind and in depth with her medical care. Each time a staff member left the treatment room my daughter said, “They are so nice mom.” I was very satisfied with the care and felt great about what the provider diagnosed and recommended for treatment. Also the clinic was super clean! Stacy Dennis

Birmingham Chlamydia Testing

Who should get tested for chlamydia?

According to the CDC, anyone who is sexually active can get chlamydia, but the infection is more common in certain groups. Women under 25, men who have sex with men, and individuals with multiple sexual partners or those who do not use condoms regularly should be tested annually. If you fall into one of these categories and live in Birmingham, AL, or the surrounding areas, it's crucial to get tested regularly.

Importance of getting tested

Chlamydia is often called the 'silent' infection because most people who have it do not exhibit symptoms, making it easy to spread unknowingly. If left untreated, it can cause serious health problems, including infertility in women. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, which can prevent these complications. According to the CDC, chlamydia is the most reported STD in the United States, making regular testing even more essential.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are also available for those who prefer privacy or cannot visit a clinic. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and sent back to a lab for results.

Prevalence of chlamydia in Birmingham

Chlamydia is a common STD in Birmingham, with the city seeing a higher rate of infection compared to nearby counties like Webster County and Cherokee County. The number of cases has been rising over the past few years, indicating a growing need for regular testing and education about safe sex practices.

Risk factors related to chlamydia in Birmingham

Risk factors for chlamydia in Birmingham mirror those at the national level. These include being sexually active, having multiple sexual partners, inconsistent condom use, and being under 25. Socioeconomic factors such as limited access to healthcare and education also contribute to the high prevalence.

Other STDs in Birmingham

In addition to chlamydia, other STDs like gonorrhea, HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis are also prevalent in Birmingham. Like chlamydia, these infections can be asymptomatic and spread unknowingly, making regular testing crucial. Testing locations like Urgent Care for Children in Birmingham, AL, offer comprehensive STD testing, which can be booked through Solv.
