I had a 1:00 appt for COVID-19 testing. When I checked in, they told me they were running 3 hours behind. They said they would text me when to returned. They texted me at 4:00 to say they were still running behind. I was finally texted at 5:00 to come to the lobby. Throughout, Kimberly was polite and professional. You have a gem there. I saw Lisa who was equally professional and competent. You really need to give those people more staffing.

I stated that I had been sick with flu symptoms for 2 weeks prior to having a change in symptoms and suspecting lung issues. I was not tested for the flu as I asked. Only Covid was checked. Check in process could be streamlined; once checked in waiting in car in parking lot is comfortable with effective sms notification when ready.

All the staff was especially nice and over caring!! Which is always a plus in my book! Especially when staff could be short, only thing I could think of in these times is to tell clients to not waste a test if only showing mild symptoms which could be the flu and save the test for others who could use testing the most especially those who are Definitely autoimmune. And give courtesy to those who are their first and just in the vehichles waiting, cause those people are just taking extra precaution, but not the staffs fault

I went in to get a COVID test but received so much more. The check-in process was super quick and easy, making my time spent at AFC Urgent Care much shorter than it could have been. The staff was very friendly and willing to answer any questions I had. I walked in which I expected. I was checked in and waited on my car until called. I went in & went into a room very quickly. The nurse talked with me & gave me a Covid test. I waited about 15 minutes for the results which a PA gave me. The test was negative and he checked me and told me what to do for my symptoms & what to do if anything changed. Great experience!

The nurse that saw me and my doctor where very nice and professional. That being said the nurse that came to do my flu and covid test was not. First the two nose test that she administered where rough and done just at the very end of my nose not in the noise. Every covid test and flu test I have had in the past where up the nose. Second she was rough with the test and did not have a good bedside manner. My daughter was in the room beside me and when she was done I was informed by her that her nurse was mean to her and administered her test the same way.

American Family Care was founded in 1982 by Dr. Bruce Irwin in Birmingham, Alabama, making it one of the earliest urgent care enterprises in the United States. Irwin, motivated by the overcrowding he witnessed in hospital emergency rooms, designed the model to deliver emergency-level staffing and equipment in a consumer-friendly, walk-in setting. For its first three decades the company operated primarily as a corporate chain concentrated in the Southeast. In 2013, AFC acquired and rebranded Doctor's Express, a national urgent care franchise, launching AFC as a franchisor and dramatically accelerating its geographic reach. Today the network spans dozens of states across the continental United States under franchise and company-owned arrangements. Clinics operate under the AFC Urgent Care name and offer urgent care, primary care, and occupational medicine services. The franchise model allows individual operators to serve local markets while accessing the AFC brand, clinical protocols, and support infrastructure. AFC positions itself as a direct-to-consumer urgent care brand without formal health-system joint ventures, distinguishing it from several newer entrants to the sector. The company remains privately held and headquartered in Birmingham.
